Northwest Equine

Leslie Strope, DVM

Dr. Strope is a graduate of the Colorado State University School of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, 1994. She currently owns and operates Northwest Equine providing mobile equine medical care in the greater Flathead Valley and the Swan Valley. While most veterinary services are mobile, she also maintains a small clinic in Condon, MT providing equine reproductive services and in patient care.

A Montana native, Dr. Strope began her equine career working for the Montana State Racing Commission. She then went on to work for the Washington State Racing Commission and several large equine breeding farms prior to graduation from veterinary school. As an equine veterinarian, her career began in Lexington, Kentucky working as a resident veterinarian on one of the biggest thoroughbred breeding farms in the industry. From there, she went on to work at several large equine hospitals in Kentucky, Texas and Oklahoma. In addition, she has been employed as a researcher, conducting equine vaccination studies.

In 1999, Dr. Strope returned to Montana and opened Swan Valley and Bigfork Equine Services(now Northwest Equine) and has continued to practice in the northwest Montana area since. While the practice is primarily horses, small animal services are available as well. In addition, Dr. Strope works parttime for the USEF drug testing horses participating in shows and area events. She is a member of the AAEP, AVMA, MVMA and multiple local business associations.
